Rehearsals begin for August Wilson's GEM OF THE OCEAN at Hartford Stage with Novella Nelson and Tony Award winner Roger Robinson.

Associate artistic director Hana S. Sharif will direct GEM OF THE OCEAN, which will run May 12 - June 5.

GEM OF THE OCEAN: In 1904, Citizen Barlow comes to the home of a former slave and 'soul cleanser,' Aunt Ester, who sets him off on a spiritual journey to find a city in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Stephen Tyrone Williams stars as Citizen Barlow.

On Stage: SPROTT CYCLE

I was blessed to take part in the workshop and subsequent reading of Hana S. Sharif's SPROTT CYCLE.

The SPROTT CYCLE is a trilogy of plays that chronicle Sharif's family history in 1880, 1964, and 2010 directed by Jeremy Cohen.

The SPROTT CYCLE Is a part of Hartford Stage's new works festival called Brand:NEW.
