 Rehearsals begin for August Wilson's GEM OF THE OCEAN at Hartford Stage with Novella Nelson and Tony Award winner Roger Robinson. Associate artistic director Hana S. Sharif will direct GEM OF THE OCEAN, which will run May 12 - June 5. GEM OF THE OCEAN: In 1904, Citizen Barlow comes to the home of a former slave and 'soul cleanser,' Aunt Ester, who sets him off on a spiritual journey to find a city in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Add Comment August Wilson's FENCES Syracuse Stage's co-production of FENCES is nominated for two 2011 Syrcause Area Live Theatre (SALT) awards for Director of the Year - Timothy Bond and Play of the Year. The SALT awards presentation will be 6 to 10 p.m. May 1 at the Palace Theatre, 2384 James St., Syracuse. August Wilson's FENCES was a co-production with Seattle Repertory Theatre.
